Abibifahodie requires more than appearing on screen. It requires the power to expose what colonial institutions hide, restore Black people as interpreters of our own inheritance, and organize audiences around recovery.

That work frames the opening of the Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026. Veteran filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo will receive the Legacy Award, followed by a screening of You Hide Me. AAFF gathers October 16–18 at Ozone Cinema in Accra and online.

The tribute asks every viewer to treat film as evidence and invitation. What has been removed from Black control? Who benefits from concealment? What must liberated cultural institutions make visible again?
